FALSE
ALARMS
Every time an alarm goes
off, a call is received, or the alarm is raised. No matter what time
of day, no matter which day, the Fire Department always responds.
At least two fire engines are dispatched with lights and siren, with
many volunteers either making their way to the station, or to the
location of alarm as quickly as possible.
No matter what the reason, a burning
house, a collapsed structure, a car crash, or just a spider setting
off the alarm, the Department will always respond as to a genuine
emergency, unless and until it is determined otherwise.

This means that at least two large firefighting
apparatus will drive quickly, but responsibly, through the streets
of our town.
Of
course we would much rather respond to a false alarm than fail to
attend an emergency, but if the false alarm can be avoided it would
make our town safer.
Please take simple precautions
to avoid false alarms. Have your system serviced annually, and cover
any detectors situated in an area of building work. Make sure that
any detectors which are likely to be set off by kitchen smoke or steam
or anything else, are relocated.
We
will always respond with the sole intention of helping. Please help
us.
