Members of the Company are given a training course by the Town's Fire Department which concludes with a written and practical exam. Although it takes a lot of work, and a lot of time, it is certainly a lot of fun. After passing the exam, the member is then qualified as a professional firefighter, and the qualification is recognised all over the United States.

Practical skills learned include some that might are used to ensure the safety of everyone, such as the correct way to raise, lower, and climb ladders. Other serious training includes participating in a live burn and repelling down a three-storey building.
