The volunteers of Glenville Volunteer Fire Company are always ready to serve the community and neighbours. We are always happy to do this since volunteers are, almost by definition, people who take pleasure from helping others expecting no other reward. John “Zeke” Zehalka, one of the Company's drivers, and a former District Chief, is always ready to respond to any call He normally reports to the station within seconds of hearing a call, and is always ready to drive Ladder 4 to the incident, with a crew of volunteers.

Zeke has been volunteering for many years, and is always looking to pass on his knowledge and experience to newer members. Other members are also ready to go directly to the station, or to the location of the call at moments notice

These volunteer members are in their protective clothing, which firefighters call "turn-out gear". They are of the highest quality material, and are designed to protect firefighters while at an emergency scene. Turn-out gear, which is issued to certified volunteer members by the town, is routinely inspected and maintained to ensure that it will retain effective protection. The engines all carry breathing apparatus, called "SCBA", which allows firefighters to breathe, even in hostile environments.
